The Year of Reading Dangerously

It was a simple and cosy evening at the Cafe Royal, Andy Miller sat with Helen Brocklebank to discuss his new book : The Year of Reading Dangerously .
Delightful evening with Dalia scented candles, drinking wine and champagne while listening to the discussion that brushed through the emotions he fell, some of the books read  while writing  The Year of Reading Dangerously

ANDY MILLER a writer, editor and former bookseller, decided that he hadn't read any were near the number of great books he habitually claimed to read, because he estimated that reading a book when he was fifteen, did not count. In his justify opinion it is much more better to read books such as Don QuixoteThe Epic of GilgameshThe Communist Manifesto and Beowulf – all bursting with potential for Betterment – and a lot of what one might call unread Greats: Jane EyreWar and Peace,MiddlemarchFrankenstein, books that fit Alan Bennett's definition of a classic, "a book that everyone is assumed to have read and often thinks they have".

The toil of self-improvement almost inevitably leads Miller to reflect on the many books not on his list, the ones that he genuinely loves, rather than those he hopes will be good for him, or which he feels guilty about. The complete works of Douglas Adams, Dickens, Larkin, Sterne, Philip K Dick, Matt Groening – none of them is in his scheme, which he gets increasingly desperate to bunk off. Possibly his most reflective and lyrical outpouring is on the tragic atmosphere of The Tiger Who Came to Tea, and many of the chapters of memoir, which seep into and overset the reading-list plot, are vignettes of Miller's youth in Croydon, Hornby-esque musings on the part played in his development by the combined efforts of his parents, Croydon library, WH Smith and the Puffin Club.
Miller comes to the rather unbelievable conclusion that it actually does one good to finish a book, like a course of antibiotics. Pride and Prejudice was fine after all, and this, he suggests, is how the life-saving/changing effect kicked in, halting "an erosion of integrity", no less.
But the truth that emerges more powerfully is that great books achieve and maintain their status from widespread neglect. If everyone was put through War and Peace or Paradise Lost – and I mean everyone – would those books gain or lose greatness?
Having finished The Year of Reading Dangerously, I find to my dismay that I am now no nearer, in fact considerably further from ever picking up Moby-Dick. But I do want to read Atomised, if only to marvel yet again at the uniqueness and individuality of literary taste.
The description of Andy's work on the online Gardian, is simply perfect; I could not find better words.

Green

World Cup 2014 has been a subject of controversy, where the country leader has been rightfully subject to verbal abuse for the amount it cost, when millions leave in poverty.
With the game far of, you would think the controversy would phase out.
Nerveless Jennifer lopez added a dash of glamour to the colourful, world cup opening ceremony.
J-Lo, wearing a carnival-inspired and revealing green outfit, appeared from a trapdoor along with rapper Pitbull to sing the official World Cup song with Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte.
Brazil is rich with colours, of course I will have my imput to the ceremony.

How best doing that, than with a colorful back ground and a colorful fruity dress
I'll love to know  what y'all  think!

Sweet Paris

Paris, the city of romance, light and sweet. Like no other on earth.

Although I have been back to paris several times in the past few years,I have never quite came to appreciated it as much as I have this past week. Rediscovering the City I grew up in, enjoying the company of the people I care about, and the Food! Don't get me started on the food...

After checking out My favorite Vintage spots at Rue du four and snapping a few pictures,I walked over to La Pâtisserie des Rêves for my second breakfast of the morning. Before I had known it, I had already walked down Rue de Rivoli, to one of the best Artisan Chocolatier in town.
I haven't stepped on a scale for more than a week now,so if I've gained a few pounds kilos, now you know why.I have a sweet Tooth.

Mesmerized once more by the ultra-modern boutique where the large glass domes covering the Confisseries are suspended from the ceilings, every imaginable figures in the shop were made out of chocolate, with chocolate brown painted walls almost as if the actual shop was made out of chocolate right in the middle of the town.I came away with an enormous bag full of Galette de Bretagne and Chocolates.
When scouting for vintage shops,we ran into Photo shooting settings across town, the fantasy is big. Almost as if we were living a wonderful dream through others eyes.

Petits Bisous and CoppaFeel

Because the team at petits bisous loves boobs, they thought it was vital to discuss with their clients how to look after them.
After hearing the buzz about breast cancer charity CoppaFeel! and its founder Kris Hallenga they felt the message matched perfectly. This April Petits Bisous and coppafeel! Joined forces to host an event ' How Well Do You Know Your Boobs.'
The event was hosted at the Beautiful Petits Bisous boutique on the Kings Road in among their vast array of lingerie.
Lingerie lovers love their bodies, they love their boobs even more, on the night CoppaFeel Boobettes Ashley James and Laura Price did talk about how to check your boobs, discussing their own personal experiences with their boobs and the Petit Bisous team did offer a bra fitting service.

A Cool and relaxing night, with inspiring stories. Among the guests was the beautiful Larissa Virdee, of www.laraventura.co.uk/
Many thanks to Petits Bisous for getting us girls together and  for hosting an amazing night!
Do not miss out, Petit Bisous Spring/Summer 2014 Collection, by visiting them at their store or online at www.petitsbisous.com/
